Meet our artist for July- Joelle Arawjo (@fennecdesign)!
Joelle is a 37 year old natural illustrator and co-owner of Fennec Design, a printmaking studio based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania that produces an in-house line of apparel, paper, and home goods for weird nature kids of all ages.
The studio specializes in hand screen printing intricate designs in water based inks and has become a place where Joelle and her partner Justin relish pushing the boundaries of the medium to execute their idiosyncratic fine line style.
Her intricate hand drawn pieces feature a unique symbolic language pulled from a lifelong love of mythology, literature, folklore, and poetry. By using the visual language of plants and animals to tell deeply human stories, she hopes to bring a sense of felt connection between the natural and built world which she sees as a healing endeavor in an age of increasing disconnect between humanity and the ecosystems that we call home.
